Role of U.S. Government Administrative Agencies Essay

Role of U.S. Government Administrative Agencies - Essay Example They play an appropriate role in checking the powers of business and other organs to prevent causing social, economic, and political and general form of harm to the national welfare. These agencies are formed for substantial national fields, such as security, transportation, labor, and immigration among others. This paper involves an analysis of ICC (Interstate Commerce Commission), as an agency created and empowered by the Congress to regulate interstate commerce in the United States. The case study has been used to answer how the government agencies function to improve the lives of the citizens when it overstretches its power to cause harm and its operations within a democratic government. The document also discusses the administrative law and how it merges with government agencies to improve citizens’ quality of life. Keywords: Government Agency, ICC, Business, Power, Congress, Citizens, Protection Law, Policies, Programs, Interstate, Intrastate, Regulations, Public Interes t The United States citizens have always been granted the freedom to express and practice legal businesses, as one way to improve their lives and contribute to the US economic development. However, the people, businesses, or organizations tend to make oppressive decisions or actions that could be based on self-interest first, before the rest of the society. As a result, the nation’s welfare and important issues could be injured at the expense of the minority groups; hence, the US government administrative agencies have to come in and to enforce law and order, through its bestowed authority to solve various controversies, by declaring implementation of specific public policies. In the Shreveport case, the interstate commerce commission (ICC), a Congress created and empowered regulatory government agency had intervened in the high rates of fare that were charged between Louisiana and Texas traffic, which could have damaged the commerce and interactive movement between the two s tates. After a deep investigation, the ICC found the interstate rates discriminative and unreasonable, it fixed the maximum rates of interstate traveling westwards to Texas market, and ordered the affected railroads to fix (raise) the intrastate rates of freight traveling eastwards to Texas markets (â€Å"National commerce† n.d., p. 72).

Position of the leader Essay Example for Free

Position of the leader Essay In every team endeavor someone formally or informally takes the position of the leader. A leader keeps track of all the team activities and has a deciding effect on the workings of the team. He has to care not only about the work but also its speed of execution. As team is composed of people, this means he has to get the work done with the people and as always observed; people work when they have some motivation to do so. Motivation is the key to how people react to a particular work or situation. A good leader very well knows what is the motivation behind each of his team member’s work and uses it for the maximum benefit of the team. Some of my motivations are holidays and spending time on my hobbies. I am also motivated by being a part of process of some positive change and also if I get chance to work with small, relaxed, honest people. These form the major crunch of my motivation. I believe that things that motivate me will very well motivate others also. I find the theory Y approach1 useful. In it the workers are assumed to be happy with their job and use their creativity and imagination to make decision and to solve problems. These set of people will tackle problem themselves as far as possible and remain satisfied with their work because this gives them opportunity to do the work as they like. Of course, some people fall in the theory X category, I prefer to throw out such people and if that’s not possible try to turn them to Y side. Also I find the ‘Maslow’s hierarchy of needs’2 quite useful. He mentions that everyone is motivated by his needs but once his needs are met, He isn’t satisfied instead it is taken over by another higher need. A leader has to take care of the needs of where his people are in this hierarchy. References: 1 Douglas McGregor (1960). ‘The Human Side of Enterprise’. Romeo And Juliet 9 :: essays research papers

OVERVIEW ON ROMEO, JULIET, NURSE, MOTHER AND FATHER (JULIET’S) ROMEO: In the play ‘Romeo and Juliet’, we see many aspects of Romeo’s personality and character. There is a link between all of his personalities; they are all severely extreme personalities e.g.:  ·Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  At the start of the play, we see that he is a ‘wet drip’ he is depressed and miserable because of his infatuated love for Rosaline but it is unrequited love from Rosaline. This mood of his goes to the extreme- he does not go out during daytime only at night, he weeps, and he locks himself out from all light and talks of his misfortune.  ·Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  After this, he is happy and joking around in the square, this creates a huge affect in change of nature in his personality. Romeo was the one who started off the joking with “Here’s goodly gear A sail, a sail'; This is not usually like Romeo, as all the joking and micky taking is left to Mercutio. You might expect on Romeo to be prying on everyone who walks past because of the messenger, but instead he is joking – this might be because he doesn’t want anyone else to know about the marriage OR that he is to excited. Shortly after this, he changes back to serious when he is talking to Nurse about the marriage.  ·Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  He still is joyful towards the marriage scene and at the marriage scene he takes the extreme again - he acts like he has not seen Juliet for years, they can’t wait to get there hands on each other – kissing, Friar Laurence had to separate them. Once they are married, he visits Tybalt and Mercutio in the square; he is misunderstood by Tybalt when he says how he loves him. Mercutio reacts with laughing thinking that it is a wind-up and Tybalt is annoyed and wishes to fight, Romeo refuses and Mercutio steps in and fights – this leads to his death.  ·Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Romeo becomes violent and aggressive in this scene; he wants Tybalt killed no matter the cost. Tybalt was shocked when he saw the blood on his sword which suggests that he did not mean to do it, and it was really in a way Romeo’s fault for coming in the way but he doesn’t realise this. When he and Tybalt fight he kills him (we cannot be sure if it was by mistake when Tybalt fell on the sword because Shakespeare does not say).

The experimental molar enthalpy of neutralization for sodium hydroxide solution was found to be -64 ±3.3KJ/mol. Calculation of Uncertainties 34.5 ±0.2ËC – 25.0 ±0.2ËC =9.5 ±0.2ËC 50 ±0.2mL + 30 ±0.2mL =80 ±0.2mL 9.5  ± 0.4ËC = 4.210†¦% 80  ± 0.4mL = 0.5% 50  ± 0.2mL = 0.4% =5.11†¦% =5.1% Percent Difference Conclusion Through a pre-lab calculation the amount of sulfuric acid solution needed was found to be 30.0m ±0.2mL. Using this information, a calorimetric lab was conducted to find the molar enthalpy of neutralization for the sodium hydroxide solution. Through molar enthalpy calculations, the experimental molar enthalpy of neutralization for the sodium hydroxide solution was found to be -64.0 ±3.3KJ/mol; however, the theoretical (actual) molar enthalpy of neutralization for the sodium hydroxide solution is -57KJ/mol. In other words the experimental enthalpy change was -64.0 ±3.3KJ and the theoretical (actual) enthalpy change was -57KJ. This as a result produced a 12% difference. The various errors will be analyzed in the evaluation. Evaluation As discussed earlier in the conclusion, the experimental change in enthalpy is greater than the theoretical (actual) change in enthalpy. This result is quite rare. In general, a typical result for the experimental enthalpy change should yield an outcome lower than the theoretical (actual) value (the reason for this will be discussed later in the conclusion); however, this was not the case in this lab. There are a variety of reasons why the experimental enthalpy change for this lab was greater than the theoretical (actual) enthalpy change. In general, the main reason for the result seen in this lab is due to the nature of the calorimeter. Due to the fact the calorimeter is an isolated environment there is no possible method to determine when the reaction is complete. As a result, the reaction may have been occurring in a concentrated area. With an increased concentration of reactants in one area, the rate of the reaction increases along with the temperature in the concentrated area. When this heat transfers to the thermometer, it causes an increased change in enthalpy. Normally, the concentration of reactants would be less, as they are not in a concentrated area. This would then cause a lower temperature increase because there is a smaller chance the particles will collide. As a result, the change in enthalpy in a normal situation would be much lower than if the reactants were all concentrated in one area. In saying that, it is possible within this lab the reactants were concentrated in one area causing the experimental change in enthalpy to be quite large. Because it is impossible to see into the calorimeter to see if the reaction is concentrated or when the reaction is complete the reactants could easily have been concentrated in one area. Furthermore, by not knowing when the reaction is complete, the temperature might be measured too soon or too late causing inaccurate results. In general, because the calorimeter is an isolated environment it results in the experiment having many errors because how the reaction is occurring and when the reaction is finished is unknown. A way to eliminate this error is by inserting an electronic stirring rod to stir the reactants so they do not become concentrated in one area. Furthermore, another reason contributing to the large enthalpy change is the impurity of the substances used. As a result, because the substances are impure, they could have had a higher concentration of reactants. With a higher concentration of reactants, the reaction rate will increase and there will be a greater reaction than wanted. With a larger reaction at an increased rate, the final temperature of the solutions will spike higher than wanted generating a larger enthalpy change. As a result, this is a reason contributing to the large enthalpy change in this lab; however, this reason is not very significant as the substances cannot be so impure the concentration on the label is extremely different then the concentration found in the bottle (it is illegal to put false information on chemical substances). As a result, the impurity of the substances cannot account for all the errors in this lab. Purifying the substances beforehand can easily eliminate this source of error. Moving on, there is another reason contributing to the large enthalpy change. The theoretical (actual) value given is obtained at SATP conditions; however, when the following lab was conducted, the conditions were not at SATP. SATP conditions are at 100kPa and 25ËC. The conditions when the lab was conducted were at 101.9kPa and 25ËC. By increasing the pressure, the reaction rate is increased and more reactions take place. As a result of a larger quantity of reactions occurring at 101.9kPa than at the standard SATP conditions, there will be a greater change in enthalpy at 101.9kPa. This as a result, contributes to the large difference in enthalpy change seen in this lab; however, like the previous reason, this is not a significant factor in increasing the enthalpy change. The pressure differences are not extremely different to cause the enthalpy change to increase to as much as they have in this lab. As a result, this is only a small contributing factor. Conducting this lab at SATP conditions will eliminate this source of error. In general, the main reason for the larger enthalpy change is due to not being able to tell when the reaction is complete and how the reaction is occurring in the calorimeter. As mentioned earlier, the result in this lab is very rare. This is mainly due to the fact that the Styrofoam calorimeter used to conduct the calorimetric experiment most likely does not provide a perfectly sealed environment. A hole is needed to be made to insert the thermometer. And there were many holes between the lid of the calorimeter and the calorimeter itself. Due to this ineffectiveness of the Styrofoam calorimeter, some of the heat from the reaction would have escaped through the many holes causing a lower final temperature of the reaction and the experimental enthalpy change to be lower than the theoretical (actual) value. As a result, the experimental value is usually lower than the theoretical (actual) value. Another reason includes the fact that some of the heat released during the reaction would have been transferred to the calorimeter itself instead of transferring to the thermometer. As a result, when the calorimeter and/or glass of the thermometer absorb the heat, it causes the thermometer to absorb less heat than it should. The final temperature will then be lower than it should be causing a lower enthalpy change. Even though this is not a main reason why the experimental molar enthalpy should be lower than the actual molar enthalpy it still contributes to it. As a result, with the combination of these factors the experimental enthalpy change should be lower than the theoretical value because a lot of heat is able to escape into the calorimeter and into the air due to there being holes in the calorimeter.

Nursing and American Nurses Association Essay

Describe the definition of nursing as put forward by the American Nurses Association. How does it address the metaparadigm theories of nursing? According to the American Nurses Association (ANA), the definition of nursing is â€Å"the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations.† Metaparadigm theories of nursing consists of theories that describe the four interrelated concepts, which are persons, environment, health and illness, and nursing. Persons are the recipients of nursing care and include individuals, families, and communities. Environment refers to the surroundings of the client, internal factors affecting the client, and the setting where nursing care is delivered. Health and illness describe the client’s state of well-being. Nursing refers to the actions taken when providing care to a patient. ANA’s definition of nursing has included three of the four concepts that make up the metaparadigm theories of nursing. Its definition strongly emphasizes the concept of nursing. It listed many functions that nurses perform such as: protecting, promoting, optimization of health and physical abilities, preventing illness and injury, alleviating suffering, and advocating for patients (ANA website, n.d.). All these nursing actions are related to the care of health and illness, which is the second concept of the metapardigm theories of nursing. The ANA’s definition of nursing describes in more detail the concept of health and illness in terms of health, abilities, illness, and injury. These physical conditions affect the state of well-being and may lead to one’s own suffering and negative responses (ANA website n.d.). Persons is the third concept. According to the ANA definition of nursing, persons include: individuals, families, communities, and populations that receive nursing care. The fourth concept is environment. It is directly related to the other three concepts mentioned above. The environment is the surroundings or the settings in which nursing care is delivered and includes the in the hospital, home, theater, etc†¦

Doctrine of Satan Essays

Doctrine of Satan Essays Doctrine of Satan Essay Doctrine of Satan Essay Not necessarily a physical bodies Like us. He has Personal, intellectual, and emotional capacities. Hes Powerful. Satan is not all powerful, hes not all knowing, hes smart and intuitive, but not all knowing, and he cant be everywhere at once Hes Limited In time space and In knowledge. Now let me give you some of his names Hes called The prince of this world, the accuser of Christians, the serpent, a dragon, An angel of light In 2 Corinthians 11, this means he can appear to be a good angel, or something holy, but hes wicked Think of the angel morning who appeared to Joseph Smith, as an angel and deceived him s the destroyer, Hes a murderer from the beginning, hes a liar, there is no truth in him. Hes the tempter. Hes like a lion seeking whom he may devour, he blinds unbelievers, hes a oppressor. And hes deceiver. What does Satan do? He opposes the work of God on earth. Mark 4:15 He blinds people to the gospel. 2 Corinthians He looks for opportunities to take advantage of us. Ep hesians 4:27 He creates hardships for messengers of the gospel. 2 Corinthians 12:7 He seeks to destroy you, 1 OFF Listen Satan wants to destroy your Joy, your family your purity, your happiness, everything! Satan is very real, and ruthless Hes described as a dragon.. Revelation 1-5 ! And there are 2 places in the Bible that talk about Satins beginning, and where he went wrong And I want you to turn with me to those 2 places Isaiah 14, and well look at Ezekiel 28, but first Isaiah 14 This in a lot of ways is the doctrine of Satan (Isaiah 14:12-16) You see Satins original name was Lucifer, or day star, or shining star, or morning star, mega star, or super star, many believe none shone brighter than Satan He was Lucifer, it was a great name to have And Lucifer had an eye problem Theres 5 1 oils, I will ascend, I will be worshiped, I will be like God, the Most High he said You see Satan had an l problem. He wanted it to be about him, and we see that Satins downfall was pride, and thats why Pride can be such a problem Me, l, I want people to praise me, and acknowledge me And it begins with an I problem. We look inward, but we need to look upward. And according to vs 16. Were going to look at him, this is the guy, that did that, that made the world So what happened to Lucifer? How did he fall? Pride filled his heart Ezekiel 28 sheds some more light on it Charles Spurges said These saints used the doctrine of atonement not as a pillow to rest their weariness, but as a weapon to subdue their sin. You see the blood of Jesus should be a weapon we use in our lives to overcome those strongholds, and sin we deal with ] Listen what can wash away my sin Nothing but the blood of Jesus!!! You cant do t, listen going to church, and being in a home group, and serving, and going on mission trips, those things are good, but thats now how you overcome Satan Its the blood of the lamb You see you will fail, and you will mess up, and Satan will make you think youre not worthy, and you shouldnt go to church or pray, and you cant read your bible, and God is mad at you, no not true, there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus Listen you defeat sin, and bondage to sin, not by your good works but by the blood of Jesus [Remember in the book of exodus The blood of the lamb ad to be applied to the door [And the more you plead the blood the mor e it makes us want to avoid sin. Satan makes sin seem pleasurable, but the cross reveals its bitterness. If Jesus died because of sin, men begin to see that sin must be a murderous thing. You get it, if you realize Jesus died because of your sin, it makes you want to avoid sin, as much as possible (Spurges)] #2. How did they over #2. The word of their Testimony You know like David, you can say God has lifted me up out of this pit He has given me life You see there is so much power in your testimony, think of all the stoniness Jesus left people, I once was blind but now I see, I once was sick but now Im healed, or for us, I once had no hope, and was on my way to hell, now I have hope, and Im on my way to Heaven You see there is power in a testimony And Vive talked to many of you, and I know many of you are young, and you havent had some crazy wild past, and youve told me, I dont think I have a testimony (sad voice) Are you kidding me What better of a testimony than at a young age I found Jesus or really Jesus found me, and Vive tasted and seen that the Lord is good, and Vive never en anything better out there than Jesus and what He has to offer!!!! Amen You dont have a testimony Cmon Jesus is my testimony, Hes my story, I now have an eternal meaning and purpose You know if you study every cult and every other religion, its about what you do, you need to do something, all other religious systems its man reaching up I can do it, I can reach up, I have the knowledge, but with Christianity, its I once was lost but now Im found, he found me, he did it all, it was by his grace, and its your story, its saying I had no hope, but now Jesus is my hope I was saved by grace, and I will continue in grace Dafter you want Lord, I want your grace, I cant do it without you.. Grace is not Just the beginning point its the only point the gospel is not Just the beginning point, its the only point continue with the gospel There passion in your life for Jesus, and are you telling others about Him.. Testimony is so powerful . You see a [Paul in the book of acts gives his testimony a few times, you know hes before these wise men, and he was one of the wisest men, but he uses his testim ony.. Think of the lame man who walked, and he used his testimony ] And #3 How did they overcome Satan #3. They did not love their lives to the death. You see overcoming the devil means you love the Lord More, and are faithful to Him, even if that means death Literal death You see they werent into themselves, they werent focused on them, they werent living for them, they were living for Him. You know Paul said, I die daily!! You see its not about loving you and living for you, Jesus said if you want to live you must die, and if you die you will live, You see overcoming the enemy means you know your life belongs to God! Listen!!! We dont decide those two dates on the tombstone, but what are we doing with that title dash in the middle Now listen maybe some of you here are here with a heavy heart And you didnt even want to come church makes you feel uncomfortable, you dont fell like youre worthy Listen youre not worthy Lets Just get that out of the way UT lets address the real problem, youre in need your separated from God, and no one should be here but we can be because of what Jesus has done Listen guys, if there is sin, and strongholds in your life, and you feel condemned and like you cant get out Plead the Blood of Jesus Because His blood was shed you can live!

First Thanksgiving essays

First Thanksgiving essays Many questions arise when we think about the story of the first Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a national holiday that is celebrated every year. How can we tell that Thanksgiving was first celebrated by the Pilgrims? The Pilgrims did have Thanksgiving after their first year in the colony. However, the tradition was not started by the Pilgrims. Native Americans were the one who celebrate their harvest by having a big feast. There are not many truthful facts about the stories of Pilgrims and their journey to America in history textbook. Textbook tend to have stories that would make the Pilgrims as the first to settle in Massachusetts. Textbooks write stories that would favor the Pilgrims. The reason is because this concept is the easiest concept for children to grasp. Another reason that all textbooks told the wrong truth stories is because of patriotism. As proud American, we all want to teach the next generation our glorious history even if it not true. We want to say that we were the first to settle in Virginia, the first to settle in Massachusetts, and that Columbus was the first to discover America. In a sense, it would be hard to teach the real history to the younger generation. For example, we cant say that Columbus sort of discover America. Columbus wasnt the first to reach America. So why did he goes down in history He was the first to represent Spain on the voyage. Spain, France, and England were the power player at the time. Every country wants to be the first to put their name down for discovery. The story of Pilgrims settle in Massachusetts in 1620 is not so true as it seem in history books. Most textbook state that Puritans come to America to enjoy religious freedom. They fail to mention the fact that they were only about 32 Puritans on board the Mayflower. The real reason for the voyage was probably greed. All the Pilgrims want ...
